The first episode of the series gave me the feeling that I’m watching an unofficial spin-off of “Shameless,” and what could be better than this? Downtown Chicago location, city subway train, cold and snowy atmosphere, dear “Lip Gallagher”; once again tired of family obligations. This series is perfect for those who love a dialogue-driven storyline. If you prefer the journey more than the destination, if you enjoy everyday human relationships, then this series is for you.

The story revolves around a chef named Carmen, who has worked in prestigious restaurants and won numerous awards. However, due to his brother Michael’s suicide, he is forced to return to Chicago to manage a rundown and debt-ridden restaurant that Michael has left him.

This series lacks a clear and exciting plotline. We’re not waiting for any significant events in the series, but we live moment by moment with the characters, as the series is all about living life.

We get immersed alongside the characters in grilling kebabs, chopping onions, chaos, and exhaustion. But from the heart of all this fatigue, we find friendship and a sense of hope that resonates deeply within us. Carmen is at the center of an uncontrollable confusion and is constantly entangled in problems. He’s an introverted young man you’re supposed to grow fond of, and you’ll even respect his bad decisions.

The series does a great job of making you want to open a restaurant. It even makes washing spoons and forks with enthusiasm look appealing. The series has the ability to move you a few moments after your nerves have been shattered by arguments with just a single line.

These kinds of series where a group comes together to start a business are always captivating. Everything happens without forcing it, and it won’t bore you.

Despite the fast pace of the series, character development hasn’t been neglected. You become so familiar with the characters’ lives that you’ll lose control of your emotions in many instances.
